Description of Issue

Hi, there. Being driven slowly mad. Roon keeps losing connection to my Rossini. Music will play, then stop seeing the Rossini, and after a minute or so, see it again. Everything’s hardwired ethernet. EDIT: I may have a core problem. When Roon stops seeing the DCS, I have tried using other devices - using Roon Remote in IPad to play through an airplay device, for instance. Roon remote is unresponsive. So I may have a core/server issue more than a DCS issue.

I have tried static IP for computer server is on, and static IP for DCS. Have rebooted router and modem. Firewall exceptions are all correct. I even tried plugging roon directly into the computer that has the core on it (as opposed to into router. Didn’t matter.

Note: I have “Roon,” RoonServer," and “RAATServer” folders in my appdata folder. Could this be problem?

Cannot figure out what’s going on. Would love some help. Thank you. Best, Evan

The first steps I would test are always related to the cable. I am assuming that your core is plugged into a switch or router, I would try the following one at a time.

First switch the cable in the router or switch to a different port. It is not unknown for those ports to go bad. If that isn’t it, then

Second, change the ethernet cable between the Core to the router or switch and use a basic Amazon ethernet 5e ethernet cable (that last bit is important).

Hey @Evan_Katz,

Ben with the support team here, its good to see you on the community again! I wanted to check in on your status, and if you got the time to test out @Rugby’s suggestions?

With that, I wasn’t able to pull a diagnostic report from your core. Would you be able to reproduce the issue, share the specific date, time and name of the track playing - and send over a set of core logs using the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks! :+1:

It turned out to be a problem with processing power on my computer. As far as I can tell, my windows PC, which never had a problem running Roon, seems to have a problem now. It might have to do with upgrading to Windows 11 from 10. But I’m not positive. For now, I’m being careful to run backups and scans at night, to keep the CPU less taxed. Thanks for the advice. And thanks for checking in.
