Don’t get me wrong, I love Roon, but being a composer, and lover of electroacoustic music (acousmatic, concrete, contemporary). I think Roon has almost no catalogue about this music, knows very little about composers and there relations and influences.
Yes, maybe is not a Roon problem, not sure about it, but a Qobuz’s or Tidal’s problem which have almost no examples of this music. But anyway Roon has alomst nothing about the composers there.
Yes, but what if I have GBs on my HDD that are poorly indexed. I know it’s impossible to index everything, and I know is my “freak” personal taste. But, although nobody knows about concrete and acousmatic music are really important at least in XX century music and the future ;-), again my opinion.
I think you answered your own question there. Roon don’t create metadata, they licence it, so until the providers show some interest in this form of music you’re out of luck.

It would be interesting to know more about the demographics of the folks who contribute crowd-sourced metadata for recordings. Do they skew old? Is the metadata mainly for vinyl? Do folks who stream from Spotify contribute metadata? Etc.
