· When I opened Roon this morning, I received a message saying that there was a library issue. I re-installed Roon on my ROCK, however now I cannot access the backup files that I know are on the connected USB. I receive a message saying 'No backups found, check your backup location', however I am properly selecting the RoonBackups folder. In addition, when connecting my music files again after re-installing Roon Server, it has synced multiple versions of each album in my library, so it now looks like my library is more than twice the size it really is. Strange behavior. Anyway, please help?

UPDATE: I have since fixed the duplicate albums issue, user error there. However I still cannot get ROON to read the backup files that are on the USB. I have changed to a different USB connection on my NUC and still the same issue. The backup file finder shows the USB and the ROONBackups file, however after clicking Select this Folder I receive a message from Backup Manager that says “No backups found”. I’ve received no reported issues in relation to my weekly scheduled backups, and I had the system configured so that 5 backups were retained. Any tips would be appreciated, as I am really hoping not to have lost all my settings and history. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the update, and I’m glad to hear you were able to resolve the duplicate albums issue
Regarding the backups not being detected, there is one scenario we’d like to carefully check, as it matches behavior we’ve seen in a small number of cases.
Could you please confirm where exactly the backups were originally created on the USB drive?
Specifically:
Were the Roon backups written directly to the root of the USB drive (for example: USB_DRIVE/), or
Were they created inside a subfolder (for example: USB_DRIVE/RoonBackups/)?
There is a known issue where backups that were created directly in the root of a disk may not be recognized by the Backup Manager, even though the backup files are physically present and visible. In these cases, Roon is unable to detect the backups and will show the “No backups found” message, even after selecting the correct location.
If your backups were indeed created at the root level of the drive, it’s likely you’ve run into this limitation. Unfortunately, until this is addressed by our R&D team, there isn’t a reliable way to recover or restore those backups through Roon.
If the backups were created inside a subfolder, please let us know and we’ll continue investigating further.
Thanks for your patience, and we understand how important library history and settings are — we’ll do our best to guide you forward from here.
Thanks for replying. The backups sit within a folder I created called Roon Backups, and then within the similarly named RoonBackups subfolder that Roon creates when it runs a backup. So, file path would be USB drive/Roon Backups/RoonBackups. I hope that makes sense.
To make sure we’re looking at exactly what Roon sees (and what it might be missing), could you please create a ZIP archive starting from the root of the USB drive where the backups are stored?
In other words, please zip the entire USB backup path beginning at the USB drive root (for example: USB_DRIVE/ → Roon Backups/ → RoonBackups/), including all files and folders inside.
Once the archive is ready, please upload it using the link below so we can review it:
