Describe the issue

After updating from Mac OS 15.3.1 to 15.3.2, my Roon application keeps saying "There was an issue loading your library".

I've gone through the steps to re-install Roon/RoonServer via the Help Center link and to create a new Roon server. I can redirect Roon to my Music Library to rescan the library. However, when I restore my last backup from earlier today, I can Roon successfully only once. My next step is usually to change to the Dark Theme, which requires a quit/restart of Roon. At that time, I run into the same issue.

Restarts of my Mac laptop (MBP, M1, 2020) results in the same issue recurring.

If I re-do the steps to re-install Roon, the same sequence of events repeats.

Note: I have checked that Roon, RoonServer, and Qobuz, are all allowed Local Network access in "Privacy & Security" system settings.

Occasionally, if I wait long enough at the "There was an issue loading your library" Roon error screen, I get a modal pop up reporting a "Fatal Error: Could not create required lock file".

On one of the attempts to go through the re-install sequence, A RoonAppliance diagnostic log was generated in console.

Roon has been fairly stable for me for years. This is the first time in a long time that I've run into a catastrophic error.

Describe your network setup

The MBP that runs Roon/RoonServer is connected wirelessly via a 5 GHz connection with a fixed Wi-Fi address using default connection settings to a TP-Link Archer AX6000 wireless router, which is connected to a Bitdefender Box 2 firewall, which connects to the internet service provider modem. This network has been stable for years.

UPDATE:

I reinstalled Roon/RoonServer again and found the newly created library stable, so I decided to restore an older backup. So far, Roon service has been restored and is stable.

The backup with issues is from “Version 2.47 (build 1510) production”.

The backup that works is from “Version 2.0 (build 1496) production”.

I’ll check back in tomorrow if things are still going well.

Hi @spektrograf,
Welcome back to the Roon Community! I’m glad you were able to have success with a reinstall of the Roon server. Test it out for a few days and let us know if it remains stable or not. We’ll keep an eye out for your response!

Looks like it’s still stable! Feel free to close this thread/ticket. Thank you!

Glad to hear it!
