Describe the issue

During the most recent software update, Roon appears to have lost connection to play on any of my devices. I have a Mac Mini as the Core connected to a Sonos head unit, connected to my McIntosh preamp. I've been trying everything possible for six hours, reading FAQ's, other folks input, and no luck. In addition, Roon lost connectivity to my NAS. When I try to setup a path, it never works and I've tried every possible combination (when I setup up the Sonos ot point to the NAS, it works, first try, easy). Please help.

Describe your network setup

Ubiquiti UDM SE with two Ubiquiti Ethernet WAP's and one wireless Ubiquiti WAP. Verizon Fios, NID is directly connected to the Ubiquiti gateway @ 192.168.2.1. Verizon router is "on the side" @ 192.1.1.1. Sonos controller for streaming.

It is highly recommended to search the forums for what are hundreds of posts about macOS Sequoia needing to be configured so that Roon has access to your local network. It unfortunately has to be re-configured repeatedly until the Roon team finishes doing what they need to do to make it work like other applications.

Hey @David_Lillis,

Thanks for writing in!

Since you’re using a Mac on Sequoia, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Thank you! :raised_hands:

Thank you for the suggestion. I toggled Roon off, on, rebooted both laptops, same issue persists. If anyone has any ideas, I’ll try them. Thank you!

I got it! For whatever reason, “Media Sharing” turned off on its own. Once I turned it back on, rebooted the Roon Core (Mac Mini), all my devices came back online within the Roon settings! Gotta love the fact that Apple, after all these years, still has that proprietary underlying core company control! Thank you for all your help!

Forgot to add, all along I thought this was a Ubiquiti UDM SE issue with the gateway/firewall which got me thinking about what has occurred on the OS/home network in the last couple of months. Once I realized that this did not start with the new Ubiquiti network, that led me to only one possibility, the various updates to Sequoia which led me down the logical path of looking at what the settings are; possibly reset via Apple OS updates.

Hey @David_Lillis,

Thanks for the update and great work troubleshooting! I’m happy to hear you were able to get it sorted. Happy listening! :drum: :notes:

This is becoming comical, it worked for the past couple of hours and now the application appears to be “looking” for something where the Roon application seems to constantly refresh and cannot play music. I’ll be looking into this tonight when time permits. In the mean time, any ideas?

Thank you again for all your help!
