Faced similar issue yesterday on a Sonos Play 5, getting this message every time trying to play a track (after few seconds). It won’t play. Worked around de-activating then reactivating the Play 1 in audio settings.
I am confident the Play 5 was in ok shape as I could play on it with Sonos App while not with Roon. Would suspect something like a Roon kept old assigned IP for the device (unlikely as those are rarely changed) or got stuck in some control protocol state machine.
