Roon lost control Sonos Play 5

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)
Nucleus Plus with internal 4TB SSD.
Roon Version 1.7 Build 571 stable.

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)
Wired network, speed 250 mbps down and 26 mbps up.
Netgear Orbi 20.

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)
Dan D’Agostino Progression pre and main
dCS Rossini player and Rossini clock
Magico M2
Sonos Play 1 (4 pieces)
Sonos play 5 (first generation).

Description Of Issue
Since this week I can still see in Roon all my Roon endpoints incl. my Sonos Play 5 firsts generation.

However, when I push the play button, in the App the music starts but no music comes out of my Play 5. In 3 seconds the app shows the music has been stopped and in Orange at the bottom the following messages shows up:

Roon lost control at this device.

With the Sonos app the Play 5 is still playing well at Spotify and Tidal.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Have you rebooted everything?

Are you paying to your Sonos Play:5 as a standalone zone or in a group with the others?

I would try un-grouping them if you have by any chance grouped with the other zones and verify if the issue occurs in standalone mode.

Also, please provide some more info here, how is the Play:5 connected compared to the other Sonos zones? Is the Play:5 hardwired to the router or are you using WiFi/SonosNET for communication to it?

The Sonos Play 5 is a stand alone one, not paired as a stereo pair.
The Play 5 is wired connected to the LAN network and plays well by the Sonos App by Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz.

Thanks for that information. Next, I’d like to take a look at the diagnostics from your Nucleus.

Can I please ask you to:

  • Reproduce the issue and note the exact local time + date + track
  • Access your Nucleus logs by using these instructions
  • Send me a set via Dropbox / Google Drive / ect.

If you have any issues accessing logs, just let me know and I can clarify.
