Roon misses out first track (local files)

Hi

I am using the free trial.

Does anyone know why Roon fails to include in the tracklist the first track of some of my locally held albums? Its very odd indeed. See attachment - first track Highway Star is missing. Also see 2nd attachment - last track is repeated several times. Some locally held albums won’t load. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? It puts me off forking out for a subscription , tbh.

Welcome to the forum. Check your file tags, the solution is almost always there.

And what does “not load” mean for some albums? Can you find them but they won’t load? Or are they simply missing?

As @Suedkiez says - this is almost certainly being caused by poor quality metadata. Best investigated using a third-party metadata editor such as Mp3tag or dBpoweramp rather than trying to use Roon to track down errors.

If you have Roon installed on a PC or Mac you can also display track numbers on the Album page (they will not be shown in Roon on a smartphone). Make sure that you have enabled their display in Roon’s :gear: > General page:

Is your music stored on a NAS? What metadata editor do you use?

Thanks - the missing tracks issue has been fixed by switching on “show track numbers” .

Glad to hear but that’s…interesting to say the least!

Interesting as @DDPS wrote. This shouldn’t really happen or be solved by enabling the track numbers.

And what about the duplicated tracks and the “not loading” albums?

Well all I can say is it seems to have come right (all 3 issues) - and it happened after I enabled track numbers (or at least it appears to have happened after I enabled track numbers). Maybe something else fixed it, but, if it did, I don’t know what it was!
