Description of Issue
Roon no longer recognizes A&K SE 180 as a connected device over USB. I can connect to it wirelessly using Roon Ready.
I use a Dual Boot iMac (with Bootcamp) so I can run Windows on my Mac when I need to.
I plug in the player and Android File Transfer sees it if I using the Mac side of my machine, and it shows as a connected device if I boot up as a Windows machine.
However, Roon does not see it as a connected USB device on either machine, when I enable the player to be used as a USB DAC.
This all used to work perfectly before the last update.
Update to the problem.
I booted up in Windows today and tried Roon and both USB DACs (Chord Qutest and Astell&Kern SE180 in USB Disk mode) seen and working.
The A&K Player will work as a Roon endpoint in both Windows and Mac if connected by WiFi. It will not be seen or work when connected by USB on the Mac.
I have ran Disk 1st Aid, Tech Tool Pro, and reset PRAM. No difference, still broke.
I have a similar issue - MacBook running Roon will not recognize external DAC via USB. Schiit Audio Gungnir with their Gen5 USB. MacBook is current: Ventura 13.4.1.
After the last update, Roon will not see any USB DAC’s. Roon does see and will play any network device connected by Ethernet.
All USB Devices are seen by the iMac as sound output devices and are also seen by the Audio MIDI set up app. Other music services on this computer such as JRiver Media player, Apple Music and Audirvana see and play all my USB DACs, so this is a ROON problem.
Also If I boot my Mac as a Windows machine Roon works fine and sees & plays all USB and network devices.
Grrrr.
Nope. None of the 4 ports on the back or my powered USB hub got it to show up.
HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE FROM ROON TO ADDRESS THIS?

Thank you for your patience as we worked through the queue to reach your report.
Out of curiosity, have you verified that Roon and RAAT are added as exceptions in your Windows firewall within the Bootcamp install? I recommend verifying the audio drivers in question for both OS installs on the dual boot machine are up to date, as well (ASIO, XMOS, WASAPI, etc.).
We’ve attempted diagnostic pulls to our servers from the affected Roon Server install (SonicTransporter) and Roon Remotes (Windows and Mac OS Roon clients on your dual boot iMac). The latter both came through, but our servers have been unable to reach your SonicTransporter in some time. What precisely is your network setup, and where is this Server machine connected? Please list any hardware involved, as there’s likely a LAN issue here.
At your convenience, can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? That should provide more insight into what’s wrong.
Additionally, please share a screenshot of an affected USB DAC in the Audio Midi Setup page, since you mentioned MacOS has no trouble identifying and mounting devices.
Connor, THANK YOU for responding.
I uploaded the log files from my Mac. My Roon core is on the SonicTransporter. Wouldn’t you want some information from that too?

I have no idea what you are talking about here, but the Windows side works just fine. I have my choice of AISO and WASAPI that I can use.
The network goes like this:
Cable Router/Modem with only 2 ports > One cable goes to the Trendnet Switch downstairs where the big stereo with the Sonic Transporter music server and SGC OpticalRendu are located. The OpticalRendu is my Roon endpoint. That works fine. All network attached items work fine.
The other cable goes to another Trendnet Switch which then feeds the iMac. The USB DAC’s connect directly to this Mac.
THIS is where the trouble is as long as it’s booted up as a Mac, it won’t see the USB DACs.
If I reboot this very same computer as a Windows machine, then everything works as it should.
There have been NO changes to the system other than the last Roon update.
Pardon the misunderstanding. I was referring to your SonicTransporter logs, as the Remote logs already came through but we’re not able to reach your Server machine. You can get the logs by navigating to Sonicorbiter.com → Manage → Apps → Roon. Here’s the uploader.
Can you please specify the model of Trendnet switch in front of the iMac? Roon is far more sensitive to packet loss or network filtering than other software since it’s transferring large, high-resolution audio files. If your iMac has a variable or unreliable path to the server due to a setting in a smart/managed switch, Roon would be the first to reveal the problem.
Our attempts to reach your SonicTransporter for routine diagnostic logging have repeatedly failed despite the machine registering as online. Something is preventing this machine from reaching Roon’s servers with regularity. Your network schematics mention this machine is also behind a switch - can you please name the model of that switch as well?
Have you assigned a separate IP address to the MacOS install on the Bootcamp iMac?
We’re investigating the possibility of an underlying network issue here. We’ll follow up from there.
