Roon not find internal audio driver Windows 11

Roon is unreliable

Every time I don’t use Roon for a long time, it stops working. I have a W11 computer and a Realtek audio driver R2.82, which has always worked until now. Now it doesn’t. Roon can’t find the Windows system audio driver. Roon only finds my streamer, but I don’t want to play music through that; I want to play it from my W11 PC using the internal W11 driver Realtek R2.82.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Roon. That helped at first, but now it no longer works and I can’t use Roon on my W11 PC. I pay for the software every month and it should work reliably, damn it. What’s going on, Roon??? Why isn’t your software working properly? You want my money and you deliver me this crap.

Hey @Michael_Herzog,

Thanks for writing in, and I’m sorry to hear about your recurring audio issues. I also want to mention that while Roon welcomes your feedback and your candor, please post remarks with civility in the #feedback section if your frustration is with the quality of service.

There are a few areas to check regarding your issue above. First, do you have Windows Defender active on the issue machine?

Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

In the meantime, we’d like to take a closer look at Roon logs for further analysis. Please bring your Roon Server back online, and we’ll attempt to enable diagnostic mode.

Thank you! :folded_hands:

Hello,

Thank you for the help and sorry for my bad behavior, but I’m angry and frustrated
with Roon. Sometimes it stops working for some reason, and I don’t know why.
It annoys me…

I execute the command you sent me, see screenshot. Now it seems to work But
the question is, for how long? Roon Server run you can check if you want

By the way, I’m not an IT engineer, I just want to listen to my music.

Michael

Hi @Michael_Herzog,

Thanks for the update! I’m glad to hear things are working again. Unfortunately, this can happen from time to time, especially around Windows updates. It could very well be the case that Roon is removed from your exceptions list for updates and, therefore, becomes troublesome.

You should be all set moving forward, and the next time you see your machine receive an update, check the firewall exceptions again, and if they’ve changed at all.

Happy listening @Michael_Herzog :musical_notes::drum:
