· I'm running the latest version in Windows 11. Roon doesn't identify my DAC https://ifi-audio.com/products/idsd-valkyrie ,and I don't know if because of that DSD files are converted to PCM despite I have chosen in the device settings to play DSD native.
Thanks for reaching out. Does this behavior occur with both the ASIO and WASAPI drivers for the device? If you go to the Device Setup tab when using each of the drivers, what DSD/PCM settings do you see there? Are you applying any DSP when the issue occurs? Is the DAC on the latest firmware?
My DAC is not listed as an option, so I don’t know if having or not the latest firmware would be important. I don’t know what settings is aplying Roon, but it still doesn’t work, thanks anyway…
Thanks for the update and additional information! Your logs show a very active DSP signal path.
SinceDSD is a 1-bit stream. It is mathematically impossible to apply a Parametric EQ or Headroom Adjustment to a 1-bit stream. To apply these filters, Roon must convert the DSD to a high-bit-depth PCM signal, apply the EQ/Gain, and then send it to your DAC.
If you disable MUSE/DSP, are you able to prevent the conversion? Be sure to keep the volume control set to fixed.
We’ll be monitoring for your reply and results, thank you!
