Description of Issue

I’m having a problem importing an album. This happens periodically but I’m usually able to solve the problem. This time I’m having no joy and I don’t really understand why. I have a Dutch release of an EP by The Smiths. There are multiple versions of this EP with varying numbers of tracks. Mine has 5 tracks. This is what is stored on my server.

The album has been fully tagged including the label and catalogue number. This is an excerpt of the tags.

When I imported to Roon it only pulled in the first track.

The first thing I looked at was the albums page to make sure it didn’t get split into two parts. I’ve seen this happen multiple times but doesn’t seem to be the case here. Next step was to edit the album. I tried to rescan and then re-identify the album but that didn’t change anything. Then I tried to identify the album.

The first one looked right. Different artwork but the correct title. When I clicked on that one, sure enough, the third of the three versions available was the one that matched my copy. The fifth track doesn’t show in the image but it’s there and it’s the right one. The track lengths are a little bit different from the copy I have but they are the same tracks.

I clicked on Save and then ran a Force rescan. No change. So why is the entire EP not being imported when the Roon database contains the version I have? I would appreciate any assistance you can offer on this.

That version is in the database Roon uses.

Are your tracks all in the same, unique, sub folder?
Have you checked to see if any tracks weren’t imported?

I know it’s in the database which is why I don’t understand why it’s not being imported properly. And yes, everything is in the same folder. You can see what is stored on my local server in the first image I posted. Only the first track was imported. None of the following four tracks were brought into Roon.

Sorry, I didn’t pick up on your point about the skipped files when I first read your reply. I have checked that now and there’s nothing there.

Can you find them if you search by the song titles?

I wonder if the missing tracks are appearing under the versions tab of other Smiths albums?
Or maybe Roon is hiding them because it sees them as duplicate tracks. Do you have Show Hidden Tracks And Albums set to Yes in Settings>General?

I have looked under other Smiths records but didn’t find the missing tracks there. Hidden tracks were set to be hidden so I turned that on and forced a rescan but they’re still not there. I haven’t tried searching by track. I’ll give that a shot today. Appreciate the suggestions.

@Placebophile
Thank you for the tip. Searching by track was the answer. The missing tracks were in fact buried in another Smiths album, a singles box set, which is why I didn’t notice it when I looked through the Smiths albums. Once I removed them from the box set it created two copies of the single, one with one track and another with the other four. Once I merged those two, everything was as it should be. Thanks again for your assistance.
