Roon Not Playing Higher Than DSD128 [Resolved]

Hi, as the topic suggests, I am looking for a solution to playing DSD256 music as Roon is downscaling to a maximum of 128.
Setting in player setup are disabled and drop down only goes to a high of 128. MSB render is not limited to 128 and will play quad rate DSD.

Hi Mike,

It wasn’t terribly clear but from looking at the Manual for the MSB Renderer I got the impression that it was expecting native DSD rather than DoP. Do you have that selected in settings ?

Thanks andybob,

Native DSD playback is enabled.
Encapsulation is DSD over DoP in settings in tracks message while playing.
All conversion setting to PCM are disabled.
I have the Beta version M2 Renderer connected by external board via USB. Just sms manufacturer and he will test tomorrow and report back. Internal connection presents no down grade in the DSD playback so I am told. Perhaps the USB is the glitch.

The USB drivers should inform Roon what its capabilities are. Have you got the latest drivers?

Yes, I have the latest drivers.

It’s the encapsulation that I’m referring to. Does Roon offer an option for “Native” in DSD Playback Strategy ? If so try it out as per the procedure on this KB page.

Beta Mk2 Renderer wont play DSD256 unless fitted as internal module.
