Description of Issue
Roon keeps stopping or won’t play back to my Sonore Signature Rendu Optical Level 2 network bridge.
I tried restarting both the Sonore and my Mac as well as the router and network hubs. It’s basically telling me can’t play back because of too many errors. And this all started happening yesterday after the latest Roon update (which may or may not be the issue). Roon will play back fine to the internal speakers on my Mac Monitor, just not with my Signature Rendu which is connected to my DAC and Hifi system. By the way it does see the Sonore as a Roon Ready device under the Audio settings.
Are you able to elaborate on your network infrastructure here? In particular, how are your a) Core and b) Sonore Signature Rendu both connected to the network/internet?
With multiple switches, at least one managed, it’s possible that multicast traffic is not being passed from the Core to the endpoint and there is inadvertent network filtering going on. That would create conditions for the symptoms you’ve described - Roon will fight and scream to retain the audio stream from Qobuz/TIDAL or your storage location, but when too many dropouts occur before the prebuffer can overcome them, Roon loses playback to networked endpoints.
I’d verify multicast, mDNS discovery, and IGMP snooping are all enabled in your router and switches.
Then, I’d try hardwiring your Core to the main router as well as the Sonore endpoint and streaming a track with which you’d previously had issues. Do you encounter the same dropouts there?
We’ll remove network variables and then add them back to pinpoint the dropout.
Also, please provide an example timestamp or track title that was playing when you recently encountered the problem, and we’ll investigate account diagnostics from our servers.
