Hi @renay_winston,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Can you give some more details about what happens when you try to add music? Are there any error messages? Can Roon see your NAS at all?
Additionally I see you are using a managed switch. We recommend only using unmanaged switches with Roon.

I just changed NAS (QNAP TVS 872 to TVS h874X). I changed the hard drives over to the new one. QNAP tech support helped set it up, including upgrading the Roon server software. All my music files show on the NAS but Roon only picks up a fraction of the files. Now I can’t access the roon core at all.

Do you have a recommendation for a switch?

Now Roon doesnt work. It has issues loading the library. Is there someone who is going to help me with this?

What is happening with my case?

Hey @renay_winston,

Sorry to hear you’re still having issues with your database!

Based on a recent Roon Server diagnostic report, we’re seeing repeating track analysis failures due to corrupt media. For example:

Warn: [storage] [directory] Failed to extract audio format from '/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/RoonServer/roonmnt/Multimedia/Music/Jazz Music/Jazz Files/Emily Remler - Firefly/03-Perk's Blues.mp3': CorruptFile

As a good next step, I would use a third-party application like dbpoweramp to scan the health of your local tracks and see if there’s any room for repairing corrupt files. :+1:

You can also navigate to Roon Settings>Library>View Skipped Files

I am still having problems with Roon. I keep getting the error message “There was an issue loading your library”. I am unable to access my files.

Hey @renay_winston,

Did you get a chance to review my prior response?

This is due to your Roon database being corrupt, here’s a log snippet from a recent diagnostics report from your Roon Server:

Error: [broker/database] corruption detected: IO error
Warn: [broker] detected corrupt database, notifying client

When your database has become corrupt, you have two options:

  1. start with a fresh database and re-import your local library + settings
  2. attempt to restore an older saved backup that predates the corruption you’re experiencing

To help avoid future corruption, I’d suggest using a third-party app to repair any corrupt files:

To start with a fresh database:

  • Make a Backup of your current RoonServer Database
  • Exit out of RoonServer
  • Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Reinstall the RoonServer App from our Downloads Page to generate a new RoonServer folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Yes I will try that and let you know. I have a file checker running now.
