The update came yesterday. And when I tried to install the update, something happened and Roon stopped. I have Roon on QNAP TS-673 NAS. I have allready restarted the modem/router and NAS.
Thank you for reaching out, and a big thanks to @Moonshiner for pointing you in the right direction!
As mentioned above, the recent Roon update introduced new minimum system requirements. Because the native QNAP operating system relies on older software libraries that Roon no longer supports, the standard Roon Server app will no longer run.
To get your systems back up and running, you will need to transition your Roon Server to our new, official Docker-based installation. Docker allows Roon to run in an isolated environment with all the modern libraries it requires, ensuring stability and performance on your NAS.
A quick tip for your migration: You do not have to start from scratch! Before setting up the Docker container, make sure you know where your Roon backups are stored on your NAS. Once the new Docker container is up and running, simply click the “Restore from backup” link on the initial Roon login screen to bring back all your playlists, metadata, and settings.
Please review the guide, and let us know if you have any questions or run into any trouble during the setup!
Hi, had the same problem like many of (surprised by an update) users. Launched docker config generator, added “ - /share/Roon/ :/OLD_ROON_SHARE” to gain access to backups library, connected with Roon client (on Mac), browsed to backup library to restore backup and… it took whole night but backup library manager just kept on displaying animated Roon logo. Discovered the backups were 8GB in total, so I restored Roon share and previous Roon from snapshots, launched the server and deleted all previous backups (now it’s “only” 961MBs). Shut down the old QPKG server, relaunched Docker app and, since more than half an hour:
