Describe the issue

Roon don't live update when ripping new CDs. After the latest Roon software update, new ripped CDs to my watched folders don't show up in Roon. I have to restart Roon to have them imported.

Currrently ripping to external disc.

Hey @Internaut,

Thanks for sharing your report! When you rip a new CD and save the files to a watched folder, Roon should definitely recognize and incorporate them into your library without manual intervention.

Where is your storage library hosted specifically?

Navigate to Settings > Storage - does Roon indicates it’s “Watching for new files in real-time”?

With the recent Mac Sequoia update, we’ve seen an uptick in odd permission issues with Roon, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Thank you!

“Navigate to Settings > Storage - does Roon indicates it’s “Watching for new files in real-time”?”

Yes

“can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.”

Did it. Same problem.

Are your watched folders on your Mac, or are they on a NAS or other networked device?

One is on the internal SSD, the other one (currently being ripped to) is on an external SSD, connected with a USB cable.

When I go to settings → Storage, force rescan: no rescan happens.

Had this happen to me today. Only way to get this working again was a reboot of my Mac. Although my Mac settings allow both Roon and Roon Server for Local Network as well as Roon’s settings for Storage shows “Watching for new files in real-time” I never find that Roon performs this function. It will do a rescan overnight. Only if I force a rescan of the storage location. It may simply be that this is not working because my library resides on a Synology NAS as a shared folder under the one volume on the hardware.

Hi @Internaut,

Can you try to force a rescan again and let us know the time . I want to try to locate the scan failure in your logs.

Tried a forced rescan just now. Still no rescan happening.

When I rip an album with the Mac Music app it won’t import it to Roon automatically, as it used to. But when I edit the album title in the Music App, it imports.

So now I just rip as usual, make an album title edit, and all is good.

Experiencing the same thing. A restart of the Mac fixed the issue for me but of course needing restart everytime after ripping a CD is a pain. Not sure what changed
