Roon Nucleus+, adding music to library takes forever

I have been adding a lot of music lately; and I usually add a batch of CD’s (or SACD converted to DSF). If I have a few albums it is very quick; when i get over 200 tracks in total it just goes really slow. The weird part is; if I reboot the Nucleus+; and it rescans (automatically) when restarted; this entire process goes really fast. It complains about dirty tracks in log; but after reboot it does not. So something is wrong here.

During log above; it is still working on adding music to library… nothing happens for minutes; why?

Edit:
I have reported this before; but problem keeps coming back - so maybe someone should solve this issue?

Hi @Tor_Gunnar_Berland ---- Thank you for the post and sharing this observation you have made with us. The insight is appreciated and sorry to hear of the troubles.

Moving forward, I searched community for your previous report regarding this behavior and the thread mentioned that a reboot of Nucleus is what temporarily resolved this behavior for you. Just to make sure we are on the same page here, this is the same work around you are currently using, correct? Same behavior etc?

“The weird part is; if I reboot the Nucleus+; and it rescans (automatically) when restarted; this entire process goes really fast.”

Furthermore, to help aide in our evaluation of this behavior may I very kindly ask you to please provide the following information:

  • If I am not mistaken you are using a NAS to store/access your musical collection, correct? If this is indeed the case please provide the make/model of this device.

  • If you turn of analysis does this action yield any changes in behavior?

  • Please briefly walk me through how you are adding content to the storage location/Roon.

-Eric

It is the same workaround - by resetting the Nucleus+; which fixes the problem for a while.

I am using NAS (Synology DS1511+ for the music; I also have a DS3615xs and DS3617xs from Synology in my Network). Analysis I have not tried turning off, but I keep it on and restart - then scan of all new music works very fast and how I expect. When I add music; I add it to my NAS-shared folder (which is made available via smb-share, usually add a new folder for each album with the FLAC or DSF files for tracks). After I add 1-10 albums (can be more); I go into a Roon remote connected to Core, and select Settings/Storage and select force rescan on the correct smb-network folder. This approach usually works fine for a while, then it just stops responding (nothing new in logs on the nucleus+ during this time either), and eventually it manages to get through and add the new music added to NAS. If I just restarts the nucleus+ (via web-interface: http://nucleusplus.local); scan is done in a few seconds and analysis is being done in the background. This requirement to restart to get performance is the annoying part. I however had a power-outage yesterday (for the entire area I live) - and the Nucleus box was off for an hour I have still not seen this issue since (will look out for it of course).

After upgrade to core 1.5 build 339 on Nucleus+; this seems to be gone. Have added a lot of albums during the last week without seeing any issues.
