Description of Issue
I am on a Roon Trial currently. I was able to set up the Roon Nucleus and use it without issue with a USB cable from the Nucleus to an Ayre QB9 Twenty USB only DAC.
Then, I wanted to try a better quality streamer, so I am borrowing a Totaldac D1 streamer. I can’t get it to work properly. I only see the nucleus as a recognized in the Roon app, but have never been able to locate or auto detect the TotalDAC
How do I get the Nucleus and TotalDAC to operate together?
Even if I only try with the TotalDAC and no Nucleus, Roon does not recognize the TotalDAC
Is it an issue that I am on a Roon Trial and it will only recognize one device?
It’s not because you are on the Trial and Roon can serve many output devices at once (even several simultaneously)
Did you go to Roon > Settings > Audio and it’s not listed there in the Roon Ready section? If it is listed as it should be, you need to enable it by clicking the icon
You’re going to have to enable the TotalDac streamer so it’s roon ready or visible by Roon on the network. It’s a pretty straight forward process.
What configuration functionality do you have to manage the TotalDac streamer and what do you see when you get in there about enabling it for roon?
This is for an Sonore opticalRendu but wanted to you you the basic idea as most streamers will work this way. I access this web page from the network. You might even be able to hit the TotalDac by pointing the browser to the ip address the TotalDac is using on your network.
Johnny_Too_Bad, thank you. I started all over and seems that the sequence of turning on the components might matter? i turned on nucleus first, then the TotalDAC. For the first time on the Roon App the Totaldac appeared under settings: Audio.
not sure what I was supposed to select for Audio Device since it is showig the totaldac as a bridge.
The only way the totalDAC shows up as a RoonReady device is if I select input4 USB from the remote control. Yet doing this while amusic file from Roon (tidal or other) starts to play there is no sound,
The totaldac is connected to my DAC via AES cable but if I select that on the totaldac remote it disappears from Roon Ready devices altogether.
