I assume 2) meant if it does have analog out does it support “fixed level” so he can use the volume level on the Niles amp.

Nucleus does not have any audio outputs, so it does not know/care about fixed vs. variable output. You will need to get either a networked endpoint (i.e. some Roon Ready streamer; could be something that supports Chromecast or Airplay, but for Roon, Roon Ready is obviously the best). Many of those allow you to control volume through Roon.

Alternatively, if the placement works, you can get a USB DAC that you could plug into Nucleus. Some of those support volume control over USB. Maybe somebody here knows what works with Nucleus.
