Description of Issue

After updating to version 1272 on May 10 (?) Nucleus/Roon failed to connect to Qobuz account. Tried rebooting Nucleus+ and all the usual troubleshooting* including attempting to log out/in of Qobuz in Roon Settings>Services. Then started receiving messages that Roon core was failing to connect to my network and not responding to reboot attempts.

*My usual troubleshooting steps: quitting & re-opening Roon on my device, rebooting Nucleus+, rebooting cable modem & wifi, re-logging into Qobuz, checking physical connections, making sure NAS online, Qobuz accessible.

After several reboot attempts over a couple of days I did finally get Roon core recognized on network and logged back in to Qobuz on May 13 and it seemed to have recognized and re-processing my music tracks but Metadata improver was paused. (See Screen Shots 1-3)

But again yesterday was getting network connection failure error messages. Rebooted again and let run overnight.

Here’s what happened this morning:
Seemed to have reconnected to local network and processing NAS track files but Metadata improver still paused. (Screenshots 4, 5)

Still was unable to log in to my Qobuz account (Screenshots 6-8)

Then while I was typing this appears connection was lost and I’m again back to 0 music files. There were no internet or local network interruptions and confirmed my NAS is online. (Screenshots 9, 10)

I’m guessing somehow related to the update as there were no changes to my set-up and as far as I can tell there have been no internet service issues, no local network wifi issues, no NAS connection issues (confirmed NAS folders are found), no Qobuz account issues (able to access and play tracks Qobuz online and via apps).

Help

You say that you have a “long run” of the ethernet cable between the router and the Nucleus - how long, and what cable type are you using?

Thank you Geoff!

Your comment led me investigate further and turned out to be unrelated to the Roon update.

Forget offhand the ethernet cable type that was used, but I had worked with the installer to ensure it was appropriate for application as it was a complicated task to run over 100 ft via a crawlspace. My cable modem/router & NAS are on another level and opposite end of my home from listening room.

(Had an issue in past, when a critter had chewed a section of the cable but this was clearly the issue as able to quickly ascertain there was no signal at entry point to listening room.)

In this case signal indicator showed no cable issue at entry point to listening room. Will post follow-up as to how I eventually solved issue and apparent cause.

Thanks again

As noted above, I have an EtherREGEN switch in the ethernet path from router to Nucleus+
Despite seeing flashing signal indicator for connections there was a problem. Discovered rebooting the EtherREGEN resolved.

Explains why there was an intermittent connection.

Spoke w/Alex at Uptone and as I understand Roon has data demands on EtherREGEN switch that are challenging for current design, especially given the very large number of tracks in my library and on my NAS.

He suggested running separate cable direct from NAS to switch. Also considering moving Roon endpoint before switch so EtherREGEN going directly to Nucleus+ server. (Apparently among benefits of soon to be introduced updated EtherREGEN would be to better accommodate Roon data load.)
