Describe the issue
I moved my Roon Nucleus from one room to another, it was working fine and now when I reconnected it, it cannot open up. If I chose select another Roon server it gives me that warning that I would lose all of my music and settings. I do not see how to confirm if the nucleus is on the same IP address but its plugged into the same Ethernet Switch. I did turn off my VPN. I’ve un installed and reinstalled. I am on a MacBook Air MacOS Sequoia 15.2 HELP Please I miss my Roon! : )
There are known issues with Sequoia, which may (or may not!) apply in the case of the move you have made.
At the very least it is worth while navigating to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and making sure that Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
Ok so I did that and it looks like some progress however it says Im already Logged in … Should I respond with “go Back” or “oops I meant to run as a remote control"
Carl you on the right track thank you. So you are suggesting clicking UnAuthorize: Which sounds counter intuitive to me, but I can give it a try. Daniel from Roon: do you concur?
Ok Carl your the Man. It was a bit scary as it looked like all my playlist and music was gone, but is slowly coming back into the Platform. @daniel note to Roon: these command prompts make no sense to that avg Joe Like Me1
I agree, I and others have requested they be reworded… imho whilst factual they convey too much angst which discourages people from executing them and self resolving the issue.
Well as it turns out I am not connected to my Nucleus as far as I can tell. It looks like i configured my Mac Air to be the Server for Roon. Still cannot connect to the Nucleus which is showing an IP address of 192.168.86.226 and my Mac is on 192.168.86.22 So I am really in the weeds now.
On the MacBook … in Roon’s settings… You need to logout / disconnect from Roon Server (running on the MacBook), then connect to Roon Server on your Nucleus.
Hello Carl Happy New Years Eve to you. I have no access to Roon on the MacBook Unless there is a way I can get to it. I deleted the Roon Software after I realized that Roon was using my MacBook as a server and not the Nucleus. I apologize if I don’t really know what Im doing here. I went ahead and Downloaded Roon Again and was trying to connect to my Nucleus with no success. Seems like the Nucleus has acquired the IP address ending in 266 which I can’t even access on another computer. So for now I have roon on My iPad, iPhone but nothing Else. Should I log out of those? Thanks Oh I did set up a new Topic since it showed this now as “Solved”. In the Roon vernacular that probably means, there’s not hope of you : ) Thanks
I’ve deleted new topic and removed the solved flag from this topic, please continue here so all the history is together.
As your iPhone and iPad are connecting to the Nucleus the problem is isolated to the MacBook, there is no need to anything with the other devices as they seem fine.
The Mystery Continues. So I took my MacBook Air off the Ethernet and connected Wireless and my Roon Server shows up. Everything is good and works find. I put it back into my Docking Station and connected With Ethernet and same issue. Cannot Find Roon Server
Thanks for the update! Can you describe your docking station in more detail? Is it at all connected to your VPN? What is the make and model of the device?
We likely won’t be able to give much support around anything VPN related - it does seem to be a network-related issue after your recent findings. We’ll be on standby for your reply!
