Sounds like they need to release a driver to the Linux kernel with this new DAC. Until that happens and RoonOS is using a version of that kernel then uts unlikely to work.
No. It’s XMOS, kernel changes should not be necessary for PCM playback.

I had traded emails with JL Sounds, they’re definitely aware of all this.
Oh boy.
I need to be sent to my room and deprived of my audio toys for a bit.
The embarrassing solution?
Turning the power selector from 230V to 115V.
Now everything is perfect; the dac works with every device, every cable, every thing.
I guess I didn’t think to check that since it powered up and worked otherwise.
