I have been using a Nucleus + to connect via USB to a DEQX Express II processor in my triamped system. Bridge software is running on an HP desktop with an i7 processor, 32Gb memory and a 1Tb SSD. The operating system is Windows 10 Pro with all the latest updates. It had been working fine for a month with the DEQX showing up under the audio section of settings as connected to core. Now it no longer shows up. I have uninstalled the bridge software and restarted the machine. Then I re-installed the bridge software and restarted the machine. It still does not show up. If I go to the HP desktop directly and play a music file using Windows Media Player as a test it does play to the DEQX.
@Thomas_Perazella, two questions:
-
Is your W10 desktop running in Private or Public mode in the Network settings?
-
Do you have W10 desktop firewall exception rules allowing for roon.exe and raatsever.exe?
I found the problem and it was partly my lack of understanding of how the Nucleus handles USB connection names. Originally the DEQX was directly connected to the USB port of the Nucleus and I assigned that connection the name DEQX. After reading a note on the Roon site that better performance could be obtained with a bridge, I added the bridge mentioned above. Roon still showed the original name so even though t was going through the bridge I could still see it and selected it for music playback. I am going to use a newer DSP unit in the near future, the Danville dspNexus 2/8 which required a different USB driver because both the music and control functions are delivered to the unit via USB. After I installed that driver, the original name no longer showed. When looking at the audio section in Roon settings on my iphone, the image was too small for me to see the IP address of the bridge PC and thus the confusion. After looking at the settings on a larger PC monitor I noticed the bridge IP with a selection called default device. I activated that and I again had music. I renamed that USB port to the original name and now it is clearly visible on both my iphone and laptop. Now that I know this, I should have no problem in the future if I make other similar changes. BTW, I have been very happy with Roon peformance and do have a lifetime subscription.
