Roon on Desktop CANNOT send audio to my BT Sony XM4 headphones!

Hi all,

I am new to Roon, and one usage would have been using it to play my audio on my Desktop through my BT headphones (Sony XM4)… however, somehow Roon DISABLES the audio to my headphones. Even if I am using another audio source.

Example, listening to YouTube, or Spotify, then AS SOON as I turn Roon on, AUDIO stops, and headphones stop working. This is a deal breaker for me… ANY idea on how to fix this?!

Thanks

System:
Windows 10 - 32GB RAM - 5.0 GHz Core i7 - BT 5.0

disable exclusive mode if it is set for the device, exclusive mode grabs and won’t let go.

There’s a few things that could be happening here but I can assure you Roon works just fine with XM4.

Ged’s suggestion above is the most likely cause.

Thanks, but I don’t see that option at all. I just see “Private Zone” and then “Volume Control”.

Weird, it NOW works and I haven’t DONE anything!!!

I did NOT “enable” the XM4, and just using Desktop standard audio out, and somehow it’s working now… will monitor to see if something breaks it.

Follow-up question, as my Sony does LDAC codec with highest BT quality, if I get a LDAC BT transponder, would Roon support it?!

Yes.
I use this

It can sometimes require a bit of fiddling if you’re using it to play to different Bluetooth devices but it will give you LDAC and also works as a decent DAC.
