Description of Issue

The Roon app on my iPhone does not connect to the core on the iMac. There is no error message it just keeps looking. I have tried all the suggestions.

Oddly I can still get Roon Arc to connect.

@Mark_Allison, welcome to the Community. Two quick questions:

  1. What version (the Build number) of Roon are you running for your Core on your iMac? And what version of Roon Remote are you running on your iPhone 7? Both versions need to be the same for the Roon Core to connect to the Roon Remote

  2. Is your iPhone running on WiFi, and if so, can you confirm that it is connected to the same network as your iMac Core?

Q1. iMac 2 build 1234 says the latest. iPhone 7 2.01219 also seems to be the latest

Q2. Yes on wifi and the same network

Have you tried rebooting your Core and iPhone? When you say ARC works, is that over WiFi at home or outside the home over a mobile connection? And can you confirm your ARC connection is being made to the correct Core?

Thanks. I’ve tried rebooting the phone, the core, the Mac, re-installing the Roon app on the phone.

Arc works when I turn the wifi off and it is to my core.

I will see if it works with my wife’s iPhone later today, she is away at the moment but has a later model iPhone.

Doesn’t work on hers either

Do you have a VPN or extra security applications running on the iPhones? Can’t say I have had issues with connecting with my iOS devices unless my Windows Core was set to Public vs. Private network mode (Private mode allows discovery on the network). I have not seen that option on my Mac Core.

No I do not have a VPN. I have discovered the problem: Roon Preferences>Setup> Accept connections from remotes was turned off.

I have no idea how that happened as I certainly hadn’t done anything to it, maybe there was an update.

I thank you for your input. Cheers.
