Description of Issue

I’m used to being able to go to Roon on any Mac and/or IOS device in my networked environment and clicking on the endpoint to show what’s playing on that endpoint - which obviously gives me the ability to control that playback from any device. But for some reason, my MacMini is not ‘sharing’ that same information with all of my other devices. I.E. If song/album A is playing X track pointing to my Schiit Modi DAC from my MacMini, going to that same Schiit Modi endpoint on my iPad or iPhone is NOT showing that same track as playing. If I play song/album A from my iPad, pointing to that same Schiit Modi, my iPhone can see what what the iPad is playing and start/stop/change said track, but the Mac never sees that and visa versa.

ALL devices are on the same network.

I fear I’m missing something simple to solve for this.

@Scott_Blackman, can you post some screenshots of what you are seeing and experiencing? This may assist in diagnosing the issue.

I hope this is what you mean. The image here (while slightly difficult to read) has the MacMini, iPad and iPhone all with the Shiit Audio Modi selected. But - as you can see - the iPad and iPhone are both showing the same track, but the mini is not.

I believe I can see what you are describing, and yes it appears the Modi is not representing the same track as the iPad and iPhone. Can you describe how you have these connected:

Do you have two Modis? And how is a Modi connected to the Denon systems via USB? The Modi has only one USB input and no USB output, so it cannot connect to something such as an AV receiver via USB. It’s only output is analog RCA.

I do have two modi’s. Both dedicated to the amps listed. Both connected via USB from two Mac Mini’s. One mini is an older i7. The other, the previously mentioned M2. The M2 is running Roon Server.

But here’s the thing…after futzing with things a bit, I kept getting two instance of Roon Core showing with the same IP. This is clearly not normal. There is only one Roon Server running on that IP. While I had honestly rebooted EVERYTHING prior to posting my initial issue, I just did it all again and - lo and behold - I now only have one instance of core showing. And…voila…everything seems to be ‘talking the same language’ as I am now, in fact, seeing all devices showing the same track playing.

So embarrassed to say, a) I have no idea what was really going on and b) I indicated an issue in the forum when, in the end, the issue was no question a user setup/error issue of sorts. It appears that all is now working as expected.

Apologies for the wasted bandwidth.
