My last correspondence was with Alex 12th November
I don’t have Qobuz, and will never subscribe to it or any other service.I have over 9 terabyte of my own music
And the computer store has removed the Warren Haynes file you asked.
Please don’t close my problem,as I said it’s costs me every time I go to computer store
In reply to Connor 7th November
Yes it is incredibly frustrating and expensive.
The store has done what you suggested by moving some files to the desktop
I have my fingers crossed
Thank you for trying to fix this problem
As I said previously I spent over 5 years fixing the metadata for my library so obviously I don’t want to lose it
Still waiting for someone to reply
Hi @Dale_Rowney,
Thanks for the follow-up! It’s a bit unclear as to your current status, based on the information you’ve provided so far:
How have things been running for you recently?
We’ll mention again - you shouldn’t need to go to a technician to have Roon reinstalled each time, as it’s clearly not helping with your issue long term.
We’re still seeing repeated traces surrounding the album/track we mentioned above:
Trace: [music/folderimages] set best folderimage for LibraryAlbum[105263, Warren Haynes - Wetlands,New York City,New York 26-9-1991] to 2668
Can you please navigate to:
- Roon Settings > Library
- Click the ‘Clean up Library’ button
- Review the pop up - how do things look? If possible, snap a screenshot
- Upload that screenshot to us for review
Do you by chance have a different computer you’d be able to test running Roon Server on?
Thank you!
Thanks for your last reply,
Status is same old,same old.
After yet another uninstall/install,I only managed 2 hours of playback before I had a track freeze on me.
After waiting for about an hour I tried playback again, which luckily worked, although I realised I’d once again I’ve lost use of f/fwd/rewind/pause/play on the bottom of the screen.Plus track length on bottom of the page doesn’t work either.
To change track I need to place the cursor on the individual track.
Also when going to albums I have no pictures of the sleeves themselves again.
You said I don’t need to reinstall,but I do.
What happens after about a week of play time Roon just freezes mid song. Then refuses to do anything.
So I wait 24 hours to no avail.
When I reboot my computer Roon tells me I have nothing in my library, which also happens after Microsoft updates.
The tech even delayed these updates but that made no difference.
I still have my firewall down as you suggested I do previously. Not real keen on leaving it off too long.
The tech has placed just a few files on the desktop to play from as you suggested but this obviously didn’t work either.
(See Connor’s email 7th November)
No I don’t have another computer.
I’ve spent almost $4000 upgrading this one hoping to solve these never ending issues.
The tech also asked me to advise you I’m using raid 5 (which I have no idea what that is).
And he also asked should I go back to single drive.
They seem to think because I have so much music (approximately 9 terabyte and growing) Roon can’t handle it.
I will get the tech to do that clean up and send a screen shot.
I know it might sound simple to you but I’m an old man with no computer skills.
Just want to play my music in my retirement.
I can’t go back to the hi fi store where I purchased Roon through as it has now closed.
So I’m completely reliant on you guys, just wish I spoke computer.
Hoping we can get a solution soon.
Thanks again.
Hello @Dale_Rowney,
I have collected the fresh diagnostic data from your instance and was able to find the trace of the recently discovered product issue with the device disappearing. I have attached your case and diagnostic data to the tracking thread. Please avoid any actions until further notice.
Would you kindly let us know the exact timestamp when the next time when the watched folders will dissapear?
I’m confused
Do I still do a clean as suggested by Benjamin ?
I have removed the Warren Haynes file from my hard drive
Any help is appreciated
I’m now being prompted by Roon to do a software update.
Will I do it or hold off ?
Thanks
To follow up,I’ve now lost Roon altogether after logging into my computer
It’s taking me back to the set up menu,no audio devices found.
Any ideas ?
Yet annother update.
My Roon screen froze yet again.
So I rebooted my computer tried my Roon page which tells me “there was an issue with your library” (common answer given).
I go to home page which tells me 0 artists,0 albums,0 tracks,0 composers.
The Roon logo just keeps spinning.
Seems like it only lasts 10 days then eventually dies.
So once again I’m stuck with having to go to my computer tech.
Your help is greatly anticipated.
Hi @Dale_Rowney,
Thank you for the update. We’ll need to request a copy of this Roon database so the team can take a look at it internally. At your convenience, please take the following steps:
- Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
- Zip (compress) the entire RoonServer folder
- Upload the zip file of the RoonServer folder here using our secure DB upload link.
We’ll test this database internally to see if we can pinpoint what’s happening.
Thank you!
Hi Connor, i have uploaded the files requested. Also does the computer having a raid system affect the Roon server. If so we could revert back to normal drive setup.
Thanks for uploading the saved backup @Dale_Rowney our team will take a closer look and follow-up with any findings.
A follow-up question for you - is Roon Server itself installed on the Raid volume, or is it just where your local library is currently hosted?
Thank you! ![]()
Thanks for your reply,
To answer your questions;
No - the raid system does not affect my Roon server,
No - the Roon server is not installed on the raid system, however the music file location is.
Hope this helps in solving this long standing issue.
Also my home is being installed with a new electrical meter in a few days and I’ll lose power for a short period.
It will be interesting to see if I lose Roon after power is restored.
Thank you
Hello @Dale_Rowney ,
Thanks for the update. Yes, it would be interesting to note if the issue happens again after the electrical install, please do keep us posted!
Hi @Dale_Rowney,
Our team attempted to use the backup you’ve send over, and on the first launch, Roon Server showed a database corruption screen.
Apologies if this has been glazed over, but have you completely refreshed your database without restoring any backups?
Or, do you have a backup that predates these issues?
Hi, each time we re setup Roon we don’t restore a backup. We follow the below process.
Uninstall the Roon Server selecting Application files and settings and databases.
The reinstall Roon creating a new server on the pc signing in with the account details.
Add speakers and Music.
Since you have found a database corruption are there any settings from the online account that are reinstalled on the new server setup ie database settings.
Hi @Dale_Rowney,
Are you removing these files as well? Try the below:
After you uninstalled Roon, navigate to C:\Users[Your username]\AppData\Local and delete all Roon folders:
RAATServer
Roon
RoonGoer
RoonServer
Then perform a fresh install - download here: Download Roon - Mac, Windows, iOS & Android Apps | Free Download
Hey Benjamin,
Thanks for your latest email.
Unfortunately due to the Christmas rush my tech will be unable to carry out your latest instructions until after the holidays.
They re-open the store on the 5th of January.
I would be extremely grateful if you could keep this thread open until then.
It seems we are slowly getting somewhere.
I have been prompted by roon to “ugrade my software”,but there’s no chance I’m doing that, previous upgrades have led to losing my library.
Also I need to mention after my electrical meter was upgraded to a smart meter, upon rebooting my computer,my library was again lost.
Thanks for your continued help,
I’ll be in touch to let you know when my tech has implemented instructions.
