Thank you, that is helpful advice. But I take it that the general consensus is that very slow searches, etc. in Roon is a function of library size (more than disk capacity)? And that upgrading from Nucleus+ to Titan won’t make any real difference? Does that seem to be the case?
Hey @Kenneth_Reinhard,
Thanks for the update!
Our team is actively looking into performance enhancements in regards to larger libraries, as functionality can definitely vary based on both the size of the local library and how its folder directory is set up.
In your case, it looks like you may have about ~40k tracks that are not properly identified within Roon, which could certainly cause the search function to lag in regard to expected performance.
My apologies if this has been glazed over, but if you temporarily disable your local library, and only rely on Qobuz, do you experience the same slowness?
If you set a smaller queue size for playback, does that affect performance at all? (Instead of setting a 2k track shuffle, what happens if you only select a single album for playback?)
Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for your message. You say that I may have 40k tracks that are not properly identified in Roon; is there any way for me to fix that?
My problems with very long lags when trying to use Roon (basically any operation) come and go. Sometimes there is no significant lag – but a lot of the time the lag is extreme, and could stretch to minutes. I can’t say if there is a time of day or any other repeated factor that determines that. We have a 1 gb cable connection, and I am getting a 2 gb Google fiber optic connection next week (I’ll see if that helps). I will try to disconnect my two hard drives of music files the next time I have a big slow down, and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your help!
Ken
Depends on what these tracks are. Roon can find them for you in Focus (let me know if you don’t know how)
I don’t think that this is what @benjamin was suggesting. Physically disconnecting your hard drives when a slowdown is observed is probably not a good idea.
Instead, go into Roon’s > Storage screen and use the “3 dots” menu by the Watched Folder entries of the hard drives to Disable the Watched Folders temporarily.
Hi @Kenneth_Reinhard,
Do you still need help with your performance issue?
Yes, everything still loads very slowly most of the time (not always) in Roon. I increased the RAM in my Nucleus+ and I upgraded my internet to Google Fiber – no change.
Hey @Kenneth_Reinhard,
Sorry for any confusion here -
@Geoff_Coupe is correct in their statement above, were you able to give it a try?
