Description Of Issue
I have several Roon endpoints that work fine (PS Audio DirectStream DAC, iPad, iPhone, Win10 laptop). However I have very strange issue when trying to play music on my Win 10 desktop. If I play an album, Roon seems to be trying and failing to play all the songs in rapid succession. The “now playing” area will flash through 20 songs in less than a second and no music is produced from speakers. This is a new issue–I have been able to use Roon on this computer with no issues in the past. I haven’t made any changes to anything that I am aware of.

Hi @Ian_Beardsley,

Welcome to the forum! Are you still able to use the AudioEngine speakers via another application with the same PC?

How do you have your AudioEngine connected, is it via USB? Have you tried another USB cable/port yet?

@noris

Yes, the speakers work fine when playing from Foobar2000. I have tried multiple USB cables and ports.

Hi @Ian_Beardsley,

Thanks for confirming the DAC still works with other apps.
What happens if you try to get the Core off the Synology and onto your Windows machine?

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Open Roon on the other PC you wish to try as the Core
  • Roon Settings -> General
  • Disconnect
  • On the “Choose your Core” screen, press “Use this PC”
  • If asked to Unauthorize, you can go ahead and do so. You are limited to one active Roon Core at a time but you are free to switch between them as often as you’d like.
  • Verify if the same behavior occurs on the different PC

That seems like a lot of work that I do not have time for.

Is there a way for you to test this on your end?

Thanks.

Hi @Ian_Beardsley,

Unfortunately, we do not have an Audioengine in the lab to test this, it is not a Roon Ready or Roon Tested device. Has this DAC ever worked with the Windows PC? I know you mentioned using Roon with the PC in the past, but was it only with the other devices?
