Roon playback interrupted: "too many failures" message (ref#OK92JI)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Every time I try to play a track, I get a message from Roon saying too many failures stopping playback and the tracks don't play. This makes the program unusable, of course.

Tell us about your home network

· Internet / modem are working fine as is the Windows 11 PC I am running Roon on

Hello @timothy.augustusperr ,

Thanks for reaching out. The most common cause of the symptoms you report is a firewall blocking Roon.

Since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

If you are using a VPN, please ensure that it is turned off.

Hi @timothy.augustusperr,

Our diagnostic servers show some activity on your account since you last posted, but we haven’t seen a response here.

Are we correct in assuming that whitelisting Roon’s background processes in the Defender firewall resolved this case?

If you’re still experiencing problems let us know. Thanks!
