Roon playback stops after 5 minutes post-update (ref#DNAGF9)

@benjamin Hi, any news on the issues? I removed the delay, I have been listening without any dropout for a while but the first one came on friday 2nd oct at 15:11 CET, can you pls check whats the reason?

Hi @benjamin I have been experiencing diffrent behavior the last 2 days, track skips instead of stops, would be interesting to check everything the last 2 days since friday 2nd oct at 15:11 CET through sunday Oct 4th. that would give us some info.

Hi @Tamir_Dotan,

Let’s take a step back. The latest several log sets show the same dropouts that we examined from logs back in March, including what you’ve reported in your most recent posts. Here’s an example:

What does this mean?

Both Bluesound units report missing audio in the same second, with matching sample counts, until playback stops. Two separate devices failing in exact lockstep means the audio is being lost on the part of the network both of them share with your Mac mini: the Mac’s own cable and port, or the first switch it connects to. The earlier explanation in this thread, that memory pauses on the Mac were causing this, does not hold up against these logs.

So far in this thread, we’ve attempted to remove variables in the network pathway one at a time. We’ve examined Roon Server logs for evidence of any internal reason for the dropouts, but concluded that memory consumption or resource exhaustion alone is not the mechanism.

The most expedient pathway to resolution is for you to create a very, very simple network topology and add elements back in until the errors begin to accumulate. We recommend you backpedal to earlier in this thread, connecting the Mac Mini server and the Bluesounds directly to your main, upstream router (not the Silent Angel or a managed switch). In order:

  1. Connect the Mac mini, the Flex 2i, and the Powernode Edge directly to your main router, using no switches at all (no Silent Angel, no Cisco)
  2. Group your zones as usual and play Tidal for a full listening session.
  3. Note any interruptions under those conditions

We’ll watch for your reply.

@connor thnx, all the lof examples are from 19 sep. we made some changes since. Could you pls check the logds from friday 2nd oct at 15:11 CET through sunday Oct 4th? that was when I had skips not drop outs .
