Thanks for reaching out. Can you please note the time + date + track when you next encounter issues? We’ll enable diagnostics for your account. Does the issue happen across multiple audio endpoints or just one in particular? What is the model/manufacturer of your endpoints?
We’ll require either a) a timestamp or b) the name of a track that dropped out in order to pinpoint the stoppage event in logs. Please share either one of these at your convenience.
From there, we should be able to isolate the cause and suggest a few troubleshooting steps that will prevent this from occurring.
Here are a couple occasions where it dropped:
The first time it stopped at the beginning of a 24-bit AIF. So I thought maybe it could have been due to a bit-rate change from track to track, but this time it happened by going from one 320kbit mp3 to another 320kbit mp3.
For what it’s worth, my audio interface is an Arturia Audiofuse 16rig.
we can see the reason for the failure from the following records in your logs:
Warn: [raat_ll/client] error writing to audio device: Broken pipe
Warn: [raat_ll/client] failed to write to device buffer Info: [raat] lost device
This indicates that the Roon Server connection with your Arturia device dropped.
To troubleshoot this, we recommend trying the following steps.
First, please set the Resync Delay for this device to 500-1000ms.
Next, try disabling Exclusive Mode on your Mac for the Arturia device.
Please also try increasing the buffer size on the Arturia to 512.
Finally, try playing audio for some time directly through your Mac’s built-in speakers and let us know if the audio stops breaking. This will help us isolate whether the issue is specific to the Arturia hardware or a broader system behavior.
Thank you!
Since MacOS controls the System Audio buffer, I will see if setting a longer Resync Delay will help. I had it set to 500ms, and just increased it to 1000ms. I will throw my library into shuffle and see if I encounter anything.
