My wife had a problem with the computer that was running Roon as the core and reformatted it. Is there any way to get my playlists I created in Roon or are the gone?

Do you have a backup of that drive or of the Roon database ? If so then reinstalling Roon and restoring the database from the backup should see things back to how they were.
If not, then unless you can recover data from a formatted drive (probably not worth the expense) then I’m afraid your playlists will have to be rewritten.
if its a mac maybe you had time machine running?
as I always say…Backups backups backups…never will you have enough when you need one
