If only ROON did Black Friday deals.
I’d rather take a 35% discount on a 2 year subscription. Pricing ROON in US dollars make it hugely expensive outside the US. Poor from a global company imho, as is the disparity in the hardware discount US 20% on Titan rest of the world 10%. A bit of fun but a serious point behind this post…
Roon do have a Black Friday discount. It’s $3 for a 3 month subscription. That’s better than 35% off. $1 per month.
Even at Aussie pricing that’s cheap. I’m an Aussie and I had to sell one of my kidney’s for the lifetime subscription. I think it worked out after currency exchange to about $35,000, but well worth it as long as you don’t submit a bug or enhancement request and expect any response or attempt to troubleshoot. lol. And, as long as my other kidney doesn’t fail… I submitted a support ticket in June as my radio station doesn’t play at 128k, so to now avoid frustration I make sure I don’t submit any defects. I use any other app but Roon to play my radio station at 128k now. Bit of a shame, but I’m told they are a small company with hardly any staff so swings and roundabouts… In general the app is great though and works well for me and hopefully newcomers coming in at $3 per month. Yeaha. ![]()
I did some quick maths on the monthly charges 3 months for $3 is less than the overall 35% saving. May be I need to check my figures. The ROON discount wasn’t advertised when I originally posted. Whislt a bit of fun I wanted to highlight that unless you are in the US ROON pricing is expensive, because no account is taken of regional variation in the cost of living. US average wage is approx twice that of the UK (OECD data), so ROON is twice as expensive for UK customers in affect. Aus maybe worse. The app is great but I think the pricing model is wrong if ROON want to attract new customers, particularly as younger generations are content with native streaming platforms. A bit of fun but I think there is a serious dicussion behind this. My personal opinion only. Enjoy your lifetime!
Hi Alan. It’s 93% off by my calculation. $1 per month instead of $14.99 per month.
Yes, I totally agree with you regarding US based pricing for international customers. That’s why I did the lifetime. One off payment then I get over the cost of it..
Assuming you consider using it a few years because your Endpoint supports it and is (like in my case) from a software point of view a piece of crap then lifetime is a good deal (compared to monthly or yearly subscription).
You have to calculate with yearly price increases in the subscription and I wonder how long they will offer the lifetime subscription. I assume until they have sold a certain amount of lifetime subscriptions - a number nobody knows except them.
