Roon Radio hangs at last second of a track

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)

Mac Mini i5 / High Sierra / Roon Build 416

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)

Mac Mini connected via ethernet to Huawei H659 router. WiFi extended using TP-LINK RE450.

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)

BlueSound Node 2i (ethernet) and BlueSound Pulse Flex 2i (WiFi via extender mentioned above). These devices are grouped into one zone in Roon.

Description Of Issue

When using Roon Radio to play tracks from Qobuz, tracks often hang at the last second. I have to manually forward to go to the next track. The problem doesn’t occur all the time, but it exclusively happens when using Roon Radio.

Hello @Sander_Zwier,

Does this behavior happen with the same frequency on both Bluesound devices?

The next time that this behavior occurs, please reply to this thread with the local time that it occurred and the name of the track that got “stuck”. We will then enable diagnostics mode on your account which will allow our support servers to request advanced logging information from your Roon Core.

Thank you. I’m not 100% sure, but I think it only happens when using the Pulse (either as a seperate zone, or when grouped with the Node). I will report back the next time the problem occurs.

@john it just happened again. Thanks for looking into it.

Hmm, did you guys do anything @john? Asking because the problem hasn’t occured the past few days.

Hello @Sander_Zwier,

We have not changed anything on our end since this report.

We are investigating a few reports of issues with the Bluesound 2i products in regards to Roon Ready playback while using the WiFi connection. The Bluesound technical team is investigating these reports, we’re awaiting the results of their investigation in order to move forward. I will be sure to let you know when we’ve received the update from their team.

Obviously I spoke too soon, the issue just occurred again twice while shuffling a large playlist (“unplayed tracks”). Interestingly, it happened with tracks from the same album (which weren’t played consecutively).

Again I’m using the zone that combines the Node 2i and the Pulse Flex 2i.

Hello @Sander_Zwier,

Thanks for the update. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on Bluesound’s investigation into these reports.

Thank you @john. I forgot to make a note of the date/time, but recently the issue also occurred after playing a full album. So the queue was empty, but Roon got stuck at the last second of the last track.

Apparently the issue isn’t limited to Roon Radio.

Just bumping this to let you know that this issue hasn’t been fixed in 1.7 or in various BluOS updates that came out the past few months.

Hello @Sander_Zwier,

Sorry to hear that the Roon/BluOS updates haven’t helped with this issue. We would be interested to see if there are any new traces since upgrading the Roon/BlueOS versions.

Can I please request that you let us know the exact local time + date when you next observe this behavior? Afterwards, can you please manually send us a copy of your Bluesound logs and Roon logs?

You can get the Bluesound logs by navigating to Bluesound’s IP Address in a web browser -> Diagnostics -> More -> Copy+ paste the text into a text editor. For Roon logs, you can access them by using these instructions.

Please send both as a shared Dropbox/Google Drive/Firefox Send link. Thank you!

Hi @noris, excuse me for taking so long to report back. Here’s a recent occurence from today (january 13th 12:37):

I’ll send the logs over now.

Hi @Sander_Zwier,

Thanks for sending the logs and screenshot over. I plan to discuss this case with QA later this week, so I will let you know once we have analyzed the logs, thanks!

Hi, resurrecting this thread because the problem seems to have gone away. I am not sure since when, and it was nothing explicitly addressed in Roon or BluOS release notes, but apparently something changed for the better somewhere. So thank you (I guess).

Hi @Sander_Zwier,

Glad to hear that the issue has gone away! If the behavior re-occurs just let us know and we can take another look, thanks!
