The two skips today happened in a KEF only Chromecast group, not the two LSX II speaker RAAT zone. The only way I can find to change the cast leader is to remove the current leader from the group, so I’ll give that a shot.
Ok in the modified “KEF Group” that has a different leader, it just skipped at 5:00pm PDT.
As far as products with both Chromecast and Roon Ready… Does this fit the bill?
I got the WiiM Sound to replace one of the Nest Audios and it’s working great so far.
In sending the bug report to KEF, can you confirm how I know which speaker is the leader? I assumed it was the speaker group’s IP address under Roon’s Audio → Other network devices, but in your example above you said it was 192.168.1.101, which is my Mac mini Roon Core.
Can you confirm?
Hi @Raul_Acevedo,
Back in post #7, you described checking Roon → Settings → Audio → Other network devices, and identifying the entry for the Chromecast group (e.g. “The Ocean” or “KEF Group”) to see its IP. That’s the correct place to find the Cast group leader’s IP, Roon shows you the IP it’s actually sending the Cast stream to, which is the leader device Google Cast elected for that group.
So to be safe before you send anything to KEF:
- Go to Roon → Settings → Audio → Other network devices.
- Find the entry for your Chromecast group (the "KEF Group" or whichever grouping was active during the skip).
- Note the IP address listed there, that's your actual group leader IP to include in the report.
We’ve not seen a response in a few days and this thread will shortly auto-close due to inactivity with no new replies from the OP.
Have you encountered any of these playback issues in the last few days?
Nothing has changed, meaning this still happens occasionally, but I do need to send the bug report to KEF.
Understood, thank you @Raul_Acevedo. Keep us in the loop on how that process goes. ![]()
