I am experiencing an issue with my Primare SC15 PRISMA MK2 and Roon. Despite being a Roon Ready device, the only available connection option in the Roon app is via AirPlay 2. No other options appear, and even AirPlay 2 does not function properly—it is unable to play music at all. This is especially odd since there are no Apple products involved in my setup.
However, something unexpected happened recently. Without me making any further changes, the SC15 suddenly appeared as a Roon Ready device and worked flawlessly for three days. Then, without warning, it disappeared again and reverted to the initial problem, only showing under "Other Network Devices" and failing to play any music.
Here are the details of my setup:
All Roon software is up to date, running on an Intel NUC. I am not using ROCK but Roon Server 2.47 along with other services. The firmware on my Primare SC15 MKII is also fully updated. My Roon server is wired to my main router (ASUS ZenWiFi XT9) via Ethernet. The SC15 MKII is also wired to the same router, and both are on the same subnet (192.168.50.xxx). I have never had any connection issues with Roon before, whether using Wi-Fi on my laptop or sending audio to my Chord Poly or my PC. Other services like Spotify Connect, TIDAL, and UPnP from my server work flawlessly. Roon also works without issues with my other equipment. I have already performed basic troubleshooting, including power cycling, reconnecting, re-adding the device in Roon, and even a factory reset of the Primare SC15 MKII. Is there any way I can "force" a RAAT connection? Could I be missing something in my Primare configuration?
I have already reached out to Primare for support, but given that everything else on my network is working as expected, I wanted to check if there is anything on the Roon side that could be causing this behavior.
I would appreciate any guidance on resolving this. Please let me know if you need any further details.
I followed the instructions, but they did not resolve the issue. The SC15 still only appears under “Other Network Devices,” the connection is established via AirPlay, and no music is being reproduced.
Primare informed me via email that they verify each unit individually, and this one was successfully tested as a Roon Ready device. What intrigues me is that it actually worked for a short period of time.
Thanks for the update! Based on a recent diagnostic report from your Roon Server, it looks like Roon is initially seeing the SC15 as Roon Ready, but then fails to match it with our upstream Device database server.
This could be as simple as a network error - have you rebooted your router recently? I see you mention you’ve power cycled your server and SC15, I’d give your router the same test and see if that clears things up.
If you haven’t yet, I’d also test out using different cables and ports as well. Let me know if that changes any behavior! Thank you
Well, it seems it worked! I changed a couple of wires and switched ports between the server and the SC15, and the Roon Ready device appeared in the audio menu again. I guess that was the only thing I hadn’t tried yet. Thanks, Benjamin!
I was waiting to do a software update on the Linux server, which changed its IP when switching ports, but there were no issues recognizing it from Roon Remote again. I rebooted it, and… the SC15 is still there! Hooray!
One last question—just a small detail that annoys me: under “Other Network Devices,” I can still see the SC15 with the AirPlay connection. Is there any way to remove it from there?
And, as a cherry on top—since I already opened this issue on the forum—can I hide all the devices connected to the Roon Server (like “HDA Intel PCH HDMI 0” and so on) that I don’t want to enable by mistake?
May I keep this issue open for a few days until I can be sure it doesn’t disappear again?
That’s excellent news! I’m glad you’re able to get things sorted out properly.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to do this quite yet - as it’s part of Roons auto discovery for devices on the network. Disabling them would be your best bet for now!
Absolutely - we’ll leave it open for now so you can continue to test
