· I would like to report a bug occuring with my Kef LSX II when using Roon via Roon Ready as a source.
Happy Path ----- Box is switched off. Playback is started in Roon. Box switches on, playback starts. Good.
Bug --- Box is switched off. Box is switched on using the infrared remote. Box switches on. I start playback via the Roon app. It does not work. Roon display error message: Audio device refused to switch input to Roon.
Workaround --- Box is switched off. I switch it on using the infrared remote. Box switches on. I change input to AUX by pressing left on the remote, and then immediately back to WLAN by pressing right on the remote. Start playback in Roon. Works.
This looks like a device-side input handoff problem with the KEF, since Roon can start playback cleanly when it is already on WLAN, but not when the speaker is brought up by IR first.
Does the same refusal happen if the LSX II is turned on with the IR remote and then you wait 10 to 20 seconds before starting playback in Roon, and give it some time to adjust?
Can you please let us know the exact local time + date of this sequence of actions? We’ll enable logging for your account. Let us know the above when you can, and we’ll take it from there.
Circling back on this, have you had a chance to try the 10 to 20 second wait after turning the LSX II on with the IR remote, and does the refusal still show up? I switched on the Kef LSX II at 07:12:00 UTC+2 with the IR remote.
I waited until 07:12:20 UTC+2 and attempted to start play in roon. Same error “Audio device refused to switch input to Roon”.
I tried several times again.
This seems to be a bug in the firmware of the Kef LSX II. I also filed it with them.
Some users got directly from the KEF support a newer firmware version, which isn’t released official yet for solving the problem with DSD.
I’ve set in for the KEF converting to max 24/96 PCM in Roon, because this the maximum that the speakers can handle internally. With this, there isn’t any problem in playing DSD sources.
