Roon ready streamer/amp with tubes

I love tube amps! So I was wondering whether there exists a Roon Ready(*) streamer with integrated tube amp?

Curious what the tube nerds know!

(*) I specifically ask for a Roon Ready endpoint because then I can put in a RAAT group with my other endpoints (2 Macs)

McIntosh has a couple of options in hybrid integrated streamers. You’ll pay $$ dearly though. I have tubed and solid state gear. Tubes can be situational. If you live in a warm area they put off a lot of heat. I have a dual system where I have options of which gear to run….A good tubed setup with a solid state streamer is more practical. Tube preamp, solid state amp and streamer is a good chain.

Thanks for this. I had a look at McIntosh - and they are way to pricey! (I am thinking of something in $2000 price range…)

maybe something from Advance Paris - dont know if they are Roon Ready tho so need to check

Full list. There will be tube equipment as well.

Advance Paris looks great (something like the MyConnect 250). But I don’t think they are Roon Ready.

This list is unfortunate in the sense that it is not at all easy to find tube amps…

Why not. Just see if your prefererd brand is in the list. It starts with A like Ayon.

Good point. I don’t really have a preferred brand though and the brand list is pretty long…

That’s why I ask in this thread: Does anybody know of Roon Ready tube amps? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Full disclosure: I’m not a tube nerd. But I was tube curious, so I acquired an Advance Paris A10 amplifier with a couple of tubes in the preamp section and an Advance Paris WTX-Streamtubes streamer. I am love the quality of the audio (into my Stirling LS3/5a speakers with a subwoofer). I’m satisfied with the equipment, but…

The Streamtubes streamer is not Roon Ready. You can make a connection via Airplay2–which I find to be unsatisfactory. AND, the control app provided by Advance Paris (Advance Playstream) is functional but needs major updating. Google declared that the version of the Advance Paris app available in the Play store was not compatible with my version of Android–so I had to go find an APK file online to install it. Interestingly enough, the Wiim Home app appears to be built on the same platform as the Playstream app. It works just fine with the Streamtubes device and looks like it will get some updating in the future. I pretty much use the Wiim app for all streaming to the Advance Paris streamer.

That’s my saga with tube streaming.

Thanks your comment, @Bob_Pisciotta! Much appreciated.

I totally and whole-heartedly agree. I have an ARCAM rPlay (which finally connects well to my Roon server. BUT:The connection is Airplay, not RAAT. This has the important consequence that you cannot group the Airplay device with your other Roon sound renderers!

I think I will get an Roon Ready streamer and connect it to my plain analog tube amp…

Hi,
May be the solution of tube pre-amplification with RAAT supported streamer will be not single device solution.
As RAAT and Roon-Ready are digital part you can try to see the network streamer without DAC included with RAAT support.
Than you can check DAC with tube output, I know them also are a little bit pricey but this solution may be the way to made system exactly as you want.

Why not just get the tube amp of your choice with or without a DAC and use a Fiio SR11 to stream. Seems like it would be cheaper than some boutique device that isn’t Roon ready.

I am tempted by this plus a Fiio SR11 or the Pi streamer I already have… I just want the warm glow of the tubes on my desk

If I understand the product page correctly, input is only Bluetooth, right? Not very versatile for Roon connectivity…

It says

Input: Bluetooth 5.1/RCA; Output: RCA/AUX/3.5mm headphone jack

So any streamer/DAC with RCA output is fine
