Roon recommendation for collaborators and performing the music of not updating [Ticket In]

I got redirected here from another thread but want to chime in that i am having the same issue with “stuck” (and irrelevant) recommendations on the home page.

I’ve been seeing the same two artists, as shown in the screenshot below, for probably a couple of years now! Basically, I just gave up and rarely pay that section any attention – until I see the posts of others having the same issue. Interestingly, I briefly saw that Kendrick Scott and John Ellis collaborators screen as in the previous post, but alas, my old standbys have returned when I checked today. I’ve never even purposely sought out or listened to these two or similar artists, but even if I had, the same two for years isn’t helping to expand my musical discovery. I did try the suggestion posted above back in OCT, but that didn’t help. If this can’t easily be fixed, perhaps Roon could implement an option in settings, allowing users to choose whether to display this section – or not.

It is 16 months now, that I am stuck on the same artist in these 2 features!
That’s a terrible customer service. I don’t know what else to say.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update to let you know that our development team is actively working on a resolution for these recommendations and Daily Mix issues.

We know this has been a long-standing frustration since last year, and we want you to know it hasn’t been forgotten—getting these discovery features back on track is on the developers’ roadmap.

We’ll share more information as soon as we have a concrete update from the developers. Thank you for sticking with us.

I’m getting exactly the same combination of two artists plus the same repetitive daily mixes. I second the idea of at least being able to turn these features off. I just don’t bother to scroll down anymore as it’s really frustrating. Can Roon update us as to whether it’s still being looked at and what the progress is perhaps?

17 months now and still the same

this was 1 year ago!

@AE67 I don’t know if this will be good news or not, but I was shocked a few minutes ago when I loaded the Roon home page and saw that the “Performing the Music of” and “Collaborators” tiles changed after about a year of being stuck. The new tiles on my Roon instance (version 2.66 build 1657 early access).

Only took a year

Lucky you.
Checked mine and surprise: ‘Roger Taylor’ like every single day in the last 17 months

Still doesn’t work here either. @daniel Do you care to provide us with an update? After working acitively with the issue for more than a year there must be something to tell.

I’m not lucky. The tiles went back to the stuck artists and collaborators of the past year.

Today, I see that the Roon home page is once again rotating the 2 tiles above. What changed? Dunno if it’s related but I did the following:

Bulk-set your live recordings to “Prefer File” for metadata. In Roon, go to Albums, filter or sort to find unidentified albums, select them all, and choose Edit → Metadata Preference → “Prefer File.” This tells Roon to stop trying to cloud-identify them. With 4,000+ live recordings that will never match the Roon database, this is the permanent fix. It will shrink the retry queue dramatically and likely stop the spinner for good.

The above came from…

:waving_hand: Hi everyone,

We have an update to share on this one.

Our team has made real progress on the underlying issue affecting the “Performing the Music Of” and “Collaborators” recommendations. We believe we’ve landed on a solution, and a fix is in the pipeline.

We know this has been a painfully long wait, and I won’t sugarcoat that. Your patience and persistence in keeping this thread alive have genuinely helped us keep this moving.

We’ll follow up here as the fix rolls out so you know when to expect the change on your end. Thank you for sticking with us through this.
