Description of Issue
Problems started when I installed an Ethernet over USB adapter on the laptop. At first, disconnecting this adapter seemed to fix the issue, but now, no remote connection even without this adapter installed.
I did create exceptions for Roon.exe and RAATserver.exe. No improvement.
Many reboots of router and other devices, including hard reboot of Roon Core.
I am not an advanced user, and have not attempted to mess with Port Forwarding.
@Phillip_Slepian, is your W10 Lenovo laptop set to “Private network” in the Windows 10 Settings menu? It needs to be on Private. If it is set to Public, your Roon Core cannot discover and see it on your home network.
I wanted to check in with you here, are you still having issues with connecting to your Core? I’ve checked your account diagnostics and it seems like the issue might be with the SonicTransporter, not with your Windows laptop.
The SonicTransporter appears to have been offline and not communicating with our servers since a few days before your post. I would reach out to the SonicTranpsporter team to see if they can perform any remote diagnostics on the unit, you can do so by clicking “Contact Us” button on the bottom right of their webpage:
Thanks for following up. I have been working through this issue with Andrew at Small Green Computer. No remotes can see the Roon core on my Sonictransport. There may be an issue with the attached Sonore UltraRendu.
I will keep this thread updated with any developments.
I had a computer professional friend over to check my network. Everything looks ok, so I am going to send my Roon Core, the SonicTransporter i5, in to Andrew at Small Green Computer for service. I will keep you posted. Thank you again for your assistance.
In the end, it seems some of the software on my Sonictransporter was corrupted. Small Green Computer backed up my files, reinstalled the software, and, for a reasonable fee, repaired everything. It’s on its way home now. SGC did suggest I reload (I assume that means delete and reinstall) the Roon software on my remote devices, and be more diligent about keeping the SonicTransporter software updated. Thanks to everyone for the assist. Now to get Roon ARC to work!
Well, I spoke too soon. Got my Sonictransporter back from SGC, hooked it up and … crickets. Still cannot find the server on a Chrome browser. I am almost ready to give up on the whole SGC ecosystem and try something else. I might try to find an audiophile savvy network person come in and take a look, but my network was already given a clean bill of health by a computer consultant audiophile friend.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I am at the end of my rope at this point.
Can you confirm the Sonictransporter Core’s IP address on your router, and what is the IP address of the computer/Chrome browser you are using to access the ST Core?
I took my server to a neighbor and hooked it up to his router. Using Find My Device on a Chrome browser, it came right up. So this is a problem with my network.
The SonicTransporter shows in my router Devices list as 192.168.1.207
The Android tablet I use is 192.168.1.157
A computer savvy friend suggest I reset the router. This makes sense, since everything was working fine for over a year until it wasn’t.
Issue may be resolved!!! A reset of the router (after settings backup, of course) seems to have done the trick. I was a bit scared to try this, but it seems to have worked. Thanks all for your kind assistance!
