Your router is responsible for assigning IP addresses to the devices in your network in most cases. If you have VPNs installed on your Mac or iPhones, these will also assign an IP address.
If you have configured separate subnetworks or you have two routers, then it’s possible that your server and remotes will connect to the wrong (sub)network.
If you have a VPN on your iPhone or on your Mac, disable it during testing.
However, it looks like you are running legacy Roon 1.8 across this network.
Please keep in mind that network discovery changes introduced with iOS 18 are only addressed in the current release of Roon, Roon 2.0. It’s not entirely guaranteed that a legacy setup on Catalina and a current iOS generation, 18,0, will retain functionality on the unsupported Roon 1.8 track. There will eventually be a point where only Roon 2.0 can guarantee a functional environment on Apple hardware.
Our attempts to request automatic logging from your RoonServer and account have so far failed, either because the device is offline or relying on intermittent WiFi. Please open RoonServer and connect the machine via ethernet for troubleshooting - we’ll inspect diagnostic logging and follow up as soon as possible.
Please share the network equipment you’re using with Roon. This includes any routers, access points, switches, and mesh nodes that sit between the laptop and the internet. Thank you!
Yes is 1.8 legacy and would appreciate accurate feedback if that’s just not going to work with current Apple hardware and software.
Should be online and accessible now if you want to test or do any diagnostics. I’m running a MacBook and straight into a virgin hub three router Very high very stable Internet speed been using this system for quite a few years without too many issues no switches or mesh nodes. I was beginning to think that it’s a relationship between the iOS 18.2 and roon legacy I can see a few other problems arising on the community also. Let me know if you have any further information it may be that I’m coming to the end of the road with roon 1.8 but I have some really super expensive usb cabling that has made it sonically absolutely beyond belief thus far and not wishing to change.

So Connor are you saying clearly and explicitly that roon 1.8 or legacy basically is not functional with current Apple hardware/ software as roon remote?
Surely this is something roon should be communicating to legacy subscribers rather than them discovering the problem through painful self diagnosis and encountering a situation where they are paying for something which is no longer fit for purpose?
We are not explicitly saying Roon Legacy will no longer work, but it’s been sunset as a software and there will no longer be any updates or fixes released for it, unfortunately.
Out of curiosity, have you tested running the latest version of Roon yet? It looks like your Mac is running OS X 10.16.0, which is compatible.
I’d be curious to see if updating Roon may solve your issues. Let us know if you’re able to give this a try!
