Describe the issue
I have Roon server on my desktop on my main desktop PC and Roon Remote running on my laptop. This morning my laptop stopped showing up under Audio but all my other devices such as TVs, NAD M17, Bluesound Node ICON, show up and are accessable via Room on my PCs and IOS devices. I've rebooted both PCs, reset my Router, and still Roon can't see my laptop (this has not happened for over 5 years since i bought the laptop). I have picture of Audio and About that i will try to attach.
Thanks for taking the time to write in and share your report - it’s good to see you on the community again!
As a first step in troubleshooting - I’d double check your PC firewall rules on both machines. An easy test for this is to temporarily disable your firewall and see if you’re able to re-gain connection.
Here’s more info on firewall exceptions for Roon and Roon Server :
In addition to this, let’s also refresh your RAATServer database on the issue PC remote:
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for the suggestions. I use Norton on both my laptop and desktop with the latter hosting Roon Server. All the Roon services were allowed. I did a reboot of my laptop earlier this afternoon. The Norton program asked me to put the laptop (connected via wifi) onto a private network setting. I stepped away for about an hour and then noticed that the Roon remote running on my laptop showed “This PC” and all its potential connections. I am now streaming music over my network to the KEF speakers through Roon rendering. Let me see if i can attach screen shots. Let’s monitor this for a few days and see what happens. Thanks Paul
