Describe the issue

I have a several devices running Roon Remote in my setup. The iPhones, Android tablets and MacOS remotes work great. However, my main remote is a Windows 11 Touchscreen that sits stationary in our living room. Roon is the only app that runs on the machine, but the Roon home screen takes a very long time to load and the search process is painfully slow. Is this a windows problem, or a problem with my windows machine?

Describe your network setup

UniFi network setup. Roon devices are all wired. ISP is metronet.

Hello @Todd_Block

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

Requests from that PC to your Nucleus are timing out. We logged 70 of these, 65 of them on 18 August, spread through the afternoon and evening. That is what a slow home screen and a crawling search look like from our side: the app waiting on answers that do not arrive. We also measured the interface itself and the drawing keeps up fine, so this is not the PC struggling to render.

Two questions, both quick:

On 7 August, Roon’s audio component on that PC tried to reach our servers four times and got back a response that no web server produces. That usually means something is intercepting the connection. So what security software is on that machine beyond Windows Defender? If there is any, please add Roon to its exclusions, or switch it off for an hour and tell us whether it feels different.

And what does that PC’s network cable plug into, the main UniFi switch or something in between?

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’m not running any additional security on that particular machine.

And yes, the pc is plugged directly into my UniFi switch. Roughly 55ft of cable between the two.

Would the PC being asleep have anything to do with it?

Hey @Todd_Block

Yes, sleep can be part of this. Do you notice the issue only when the machine wakes up, and does it stabilize after some time?
