I took my Mac Mini and portable system on vacation. Everything is set up and works fine managing Roon from the monitor connected to the Mac. However, the remote app on my iPad/iPhone will not connect to Roon Core:
All devices are on the same WiFi network.
The firewall on the Mac is turned off.
Roon is configured to accept remote devices.
I deleted and reinstalled the Roon Remote app on the iPad.
I restarted the Mac
Mac is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, Roon is most recent version available.
Mac is i7 3GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, music library on local 1TB SSD via USB 3.0.
Help! What to do to fix this? Will be here for a week, need to be able to run Roon via iPad.
Sorry to say, you are likely screwed. Marriott is notorious for placing blocks on wifi in their premises, not just theirs, under the pretexts of “security and safety.” The multicast protocol Roon uses for core discovery may well be blocked.
