Roon Remote will not Connect to Core

I took my Mac Mini and portable system on vacation. Everything is set up and works fine managing Roon from the monitor connected to the Mac. However, the remote app on my iPad/iPhone will not connect to Roon Core:

  1. All devices are on the same WiFi network.
  2. The firewall on the Mac is turned off.
  3. Roon is configured to accept remote devices.
  4. I deleted and reinstalled the Roon Remote app on the iPad.
  5. I restarted the Mac
  6. Mac is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5, Roon is most recent version available.
  7. Mac is i7 3GHz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, music library on local 1TB SSD via USB 3.0.

Help! What to do to fix this? Will be here for a week, need to be able to run Roon via iPad.

Thanks,

Lee

One more thing–I input the Mac IP address for Roon to scan, that didn’t work either.

Did you take your own wifi router as well?
What Wifi router is it?
Does it have any multicast filtering options?

Can you install a network scanner App, like fing, onto your iPad and check that it can see the device that Roon Core is running one.

No to essen all of that. I am in a Marriott facility in Hilton Head Island SC.

Where to go from here? Do I need to install a third party app to get this sorted?

Sorry to say, you are likely screwed. Marriott is notorious for placing blocks on wifi in their premises, not just theirs, under the pretexts of “security and safety.” The multicast protocol Roon uses for core discovery may well be blocked.
