Describe the issue
Roon remotes don't connect to Roon Server host. I've tried everything I can think of including shutting down my entire network, removing and reinstalling Roon apps on iPad and iPhone, and removing and reinstalling Roon Server on host.
Describe your network setup
Roon Server is installed on Windows 10 laptop wired directly to router. Roon remotes are installed on iPad and iPhone. Powerline adapters connect some other devices in the house. VPN is installed on Roon server device but is rarely activated. Sonos devices are primarily connected via WiFi. TVs are connected to set-top boxes and also to WiFi.
I’ve disabled Windows Defender firewall, and my iPad remote briefly said it was connecting to the server, but soon reverted to the “looking for” screen.
No VM adapters are active.
I can send a .csv file from my router to show all the connections. Here are 3 screenies of my router client list.
Hi @Gene_Zipperlen,
I think the best way to proceed with troubleshooting is getting some logs from the remotes that are having problems. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
Hi @Gene_Zipperlen,
Sorry for the delay in responding to you and thank you for getting those logs to us. On examining your logs I found this in the most recent log that you sent.
If you look at the last two lines of that screenshot you can see that vEthernet and Loopback Pseudo-Interface are both found. Those are both VM related adapters. Can you please try disabling those 2 interfaces. Hopefully that will solve your issue with connecting remotes. Please let us know if it works!
I finally got Roon working by installing it on another PC that doesn’t have any virtual machines. The first day of working has been uneventful except for the sound cutting out occasionally – not a deal breaker, surely.
