Roon ROCK backup on USB SSD corrupted

I have run through several Sandisk Ultra Fit 32GB USB sticks as backup device on my ROCK server (NUC i7). Everything works flawlessly for a few months when suddenly the USB stick is no longer recognized and seems to be terminally corrupted. Re-formatting or erasing doesn’t work anymore, I can only exchange the USB stick for a new one.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a problem with using an USB stick as a backup medium?

USB sticks are not the most reliable media. I would suggest a bigger one so the wear is spread among more cells.
