Describe the issue

Cannot locate Roon ROCK after changing internet providers

Hello @thlunsford ,

Can you please confirm where the PC and the ROCK are connected in terms of the network configuration? I am looking over your account diagnostics and I notice that the ROCK is currently on a 192.168.86.XYZ subnet while your PC is on a 192.168.1.XYZ subnet.

Roon won’t work properly across subnets and what most likely happened here is that the ISP introduced another router with the change. The solution here would be to connect both ROCK and PC to the same router, or to place the new ISP gear in “Bridge Mode” so that it does not do any DHCP routing, sometimes ISPs can do this remotely if you’d like to give them a call.

Things seem to have resolved spontaneously. I never got around to connecting the ROCK and PC to the same router or used bridge mode as you described. A few days later, I was able to connect back to the ROCK and play music. Any idea what could account for this?

We’re glad to hear it @thlunsford! We weren’t able to see anything obvious from your Roon Server diagnostic report, but certainly let us know if you run into similar issues down the road.

Happy listening! :drum: :notes:
