Roon sampling settings for an Audio Note 0.1X DAC

I’m currently running Roon with a Bryston BDP-3 and an Audio Note 0.1X DAC. No suprise, but roon does not recognize the Audio Note DAC. The DAC is connected via USB to the Bryston BDP streamer and only has a resolution of 16 bit 44/48/96KHZ.

What is the best way to get the resolution rate to downsample to the DAC? Is there a similar DAC I can choose from those that are supported - or is there a downsampling option I can use?

When I play something with a higher resolution, it plays a high-pitch screeching noise - so it looks like the DAC can’t handle the sampling rate being sent.

You can set Roon to up or down sample the stream to a set resolution. This is done under Muse.

Sample Rate Conversion. Set Sample Rate Conversion to “Custom”. And then set all Incoming sample rates to the same outgoing sample rate. Like this..

Hi @David_Parker2,

@Rugby is correct with the above note - you can apply a sample rate conversion in Roon before the audio stream hits your Bryston, and that should help you out.

Enable your Bryston as your zone like you would normally, and then click the speaker icon to access MUSE:

Thanks all for the suggestions. I was able to use MUSE to set the rate to 44.1KHZ for all but still doesn’t seem to work with my DAC. If I play native 44.1 files, it works fine - but anything that gets downsampled doesn’t seem to work with this DAC, unfortunately.

Hey @David_Parker2,

What does the signal path look like when playback fails? From a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, we didn’t catch any obvious playback errors when attempting to play 96k content - we only see a pause command initiated:

Trace: [Bryston] [HighQuality, 24/96 FLAC => 16/44] [4% buf] [PLAYING @ 0:00] Alabama Song [Whisky Bar] - The Doors
Trace: [zone Bryston] PlayPause
Trace: [zone Bryston] Pause

Looks like I found the issue - it wasn’t anything to do with my DAC. It appeared to be an issue with Tidal - when I selected a maximum resolution in the Tidal login setup - it seemed to cause issue. If I left Tidal resolution at “max” and then let Roon do the conversion - it works more consistently. Thanks for all the help.
